Nov. 07--November sweeps are in full swing with networks and cable channels showcasing their best to get the highest ratings.
This weekend, you'll see the return of Professor Proton, the cast of "Arrested Development," two junior chefs and Trisha Yearwood cooking up a storm, and a brilliant documentary about a war veteran who helps returning veterans find solace in fly-fishing in Montana.
Sheldon feels slighted when his childhood hero Professor Proton (Emmy winner Bob Newhart) seeks advice from Leonard instead of him, and he seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host, Bill Nye the Science Guy, in a new episode of "The Big Bang Theory," airing at 7 p.m. Thursday on CBS, channel 6.
The cast of quirky TV series "Arrested Development" gather "Inside the Actors Studio" at 7 p.m. Thursday on Bravo, cable 46. Host James Lipton will welcome Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor and creator Mitch Hurwitz.
If you're up early on Saturday, you can catch the season premiere of "Trisha's Southern Kitchen" at 9:30 a.m. on Food Network, cable 58.
Helping out in the kitchen this time around will be Kelly Clarkson, Wendy Williams and chef Art Smith serving up tasty dishes. The country music star and cook -- who makes her home near Owasso with her husband, country music star Garth Brooks, and their family -- will also welcome Oklahoman and Olympic gold medal gymnasts Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci.
War is never over
What happens after our military men and women return from war? Find out when PBS broadcasts "Not Yet Begun to Fight" debuting this weekend nationwide and at 6 p.m. Sunday on PBS, channel 11 in Tulsa. The critically acclaimed documentary, airing as Veterans Day approaches, tells the story of the next chapter for one group of combat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who join retired Marine Col. Eric Hastings for a week of fly-fishing in Montana.
Legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking musical "Company" makes its PBS debut in the New York Philharmonic concert production airing at 9 p.m. Friday on channel 11. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Bobby, a confirmed bachelor celebrating his 35th birthday with his 10 closest friends including Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert, Christina Hendricks, Anika Noni Rose and Jon Cryer.
Down to the wire
The last two kids standing in the "Masterchef Junior" cooking competition take to the kitchen at 7 p.m. Friday in the season finale, airing on Fox, channel 23, cable 5. Alexander Weiss, 13, and Dara Yu, 12, will compete in the finals.
Who knew kids this age could serve up soy and ginger-glazed chicken lollipops with pickled vegetables?
The winning junior chef will take home a trophy and the $100,000 prize.
Save the day
Film and TV stars the legendary Bruce Dern and teen actor Bailee Madison star in the latest Hallmark holiday film "Pete's Christmas." In this one, an overlooked middle child realizes his family's terrible Christmas Day keeps repeating itself and only he can solve the situation. The film airs at 7 p.m. Friday on cable 165.
