» PHOTO TRANSFER ERCLab Photo Transfer allows the beginner through advanced user to wirelessly send and receive photos and videos between iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and computer. No cables or extra software are required.
To transfer photos from one device to another, both need to have this app installed. You only pay once when both devices use the same iTunes account to purchase apps. Use any web browser on your computer, or the new free desktop application, to quickly transfer between your device and your computer. A free desktop app version is available for Mac and Windows computers.
As noted on the iTunes app site, "... your photos and videos are transferred directly from device to device using your local wifi network. They are not stored in an external server and they never leave your local wifi network, keeping your photos safe. Photos are sorted by date when selecting photos on your device. You can choose to transfer in full or medium resolution between devices. "
To use it, simply make sure the Photo Transfer app is running on the two devices you want to use. Click on the "Discover Devices" button and select the device where the photos are that you wish to transfer. Then, in pages of 50, select the images or video clips you want to transfer. You move through all the pages that you wish.
If you are sending the images from your iPhone or Android to your computer, you click on "Download Selected." All photos selected will be downloaded as a zip file to your computer. When opened, it will be a folder with all your selected images.
If you are sending via a web browser, you will be given an online URL to go on the device where the images are being sent. There you will find the images. You can select to download all or some as a zip file. Very nifty.
The visual and written steps for following the process are very clear. I have used this app extensively for two years and it has been easy and dependable. It has saved me a great deal of time in moving photos to where I needed them to be for creating art and multimedia pieces.
Photo Transfer is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. There are in-app purchases for plugins for Dropbox,
If you take many photos and are wondering how to get them all to one place where you can organize and sort them, then this app is worth checking out. *
