Nov. 03--McCONNELL -- First Baptist Church of McConnell will have Farm Hands Bluegrass Quartet in concert today at 10:30 a.m.
Farm Hands Bluegrass Quartet is one of the most talented bands in bluegrass music. The group features four award winning singers, musicians and songwriters, including two long time veterans of Nashville's Grand Ole Opry.
In 2013, the group was nominated for seven Bluegrass Music Awards including Band of the Year, Gospel Band of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Their YouTube videos, Facebook, and Twitter pages have thousands of followers. Their monthly newsletter is a regular feature in 'Bluegrass Unlimited', the bluegrass industry's top publication. They are one of the busiest touring bands in bluegrass, performing over 150 dates per year.
Bass player Daryl Mosley has written songs featured on American Idol, The View and True Hollywood Story, and has several No. 1 songs to his credit, including the southern gospel classic, (Ask the Blind Man) He Saw It All.
Singing and playing the resophonic guitar is Grammy award winner Tim Graves. Graves has over 30 years of professional music under his belt, including 20 years as part of world famous Grand Ole Opry. Tim has toured extensively across the U.S. both as a sideman and with his own group. Tim plays his signature 'Tim Graves model' Beard guitar and is the reigning Dobro Player of the Year in bluegrass music, a distinction he has held eight times and the last five years in a row.
On the acoustic guitar and singing is Kevin Williamson. Williamson was a founding member of the bluegrass bands Redwing and Shadow Ridge. He has played most of the major bluegrass venues in America and has written several bluegrass chart singles as well as a song on a Grammy nominated album.
On banjo and singing bass is Bennie Boling. Boling has been playing bluegrass music for over 30 years. Bennie is an incredible multi-instrumentalist, being right at home on banjo, bass, guitar, and several other instruments. He is also a gifted songwriter, having songs recorded by many major recording artists including The Oak Ridge Boys, Gene Watson, Grand Ole Opry star Jeannie Seely and others.
