Garth Brooks' live Vegas show to be broadcast
Oklahoma's own country music star Garth Brooks will perform in a live broadcast special, "Live From Las Vegas," at 8 p.m. Friday on CBS, channel 6. The setting will be intimate: just Brooks, his guitars, a selection of music from artists who influenced him on his musical journey plus some of his favorite classic songs.
"Blame it all on my roots," Brooks told CBS. "This is the soundtrack of my life. Growing up the last of six kids, music was the life blood of our family -- and as you can imagine, Mom, Dad and each kid had his or her own favorite stuff, and it all funneled down to me."
The special will also include the final performance of Brooks' show from Wynn Las Vegas, which has played to sold-out audiences for the past three years.
FRIDAY: NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WILD
Big Cat Week
You're gonna hear them roar as National Geographic Wild kicks off its fourth annual "Big Cat Week" at 8 p.m. beginning Friday on cable 146. The lineup includes new "cat" programming every night including "Man vs. Cheetah" race with the NFL's fastest running back at 8 p.m. Friday, "Cougar vs. Wolf' at 9 p.m. Saturday, and the special "Betty White Goes Wild" at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Sounds hokey, but your heart might shrink three sizes if you don't watch the classic animated special "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at 7 p.m. Friday on ABC, channel 8. "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 40th Anniversary Special Edition," the original 1966 special, includes additional footage from a "making of" documentary, featuring interviews with Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel and Chuck Jones.
