Nov. 22--Blue Is the Warmest Color The sex scenes, which earned the film an NC-17 rating, may be intense, but what lingers in the mind is the naked intensity of this film's emotions. A lesbian coming-of-age story, it features, in the work of Ad le Exarchopoulos, Western cinema's most mature and assured performance by a teenage actress in a generation. Barring another miracle, this is the best film of 2013. Rated NC-17. 175 minutes. In French with English subtitles.

Last Vegas Five Oscar winners -- Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Mary Steenburgen, Kevin Kline and Robert De Niro -- team up for the story of four old friends who meet up for a bachelor party and have a transformative weekend in Las Vegas. Funny, but serious, too, in its exploration of the fears surrounding aging. Douglas is particularly heartfelt. Rated PG-13. 104 minutes.
