Comedian Mike Birbiglia Set To Embark On "Thank God For Jokes Tour"

November 20, 2013

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning comedian, author, and filmmaker Mike Birbiglia has announced the "Thank God For Jokes" tour, his latest major multi-city standup tour that will take him across the United States in 2014. After the unprecedented success of both the "Sleepwalk with Me" and "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" tours, Birbiglia returns to the stage with an all-new show that is at once hilarious and painfully honest.

Birbiglia says of the new show, "This is the funniest hour I've ever done, so I thought, I gotta bring this to Fargo. And then I thought, why don't I go to other cities too?!" In addition to Fargo, Birbiglia heads to Boston, Minneapolis, and 20 other cities on this 2014 tour. He brings a show filled with stories and jokes about his visit to Cats-a-chusetts, arguing with a stranger about her nut allergy, hosting an awards show for angry celebrities, and learning that Fozzie Bear is a tough act to follow.

Birbiglia's recent off-Broadway hit, My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show and was named a Critics Pick by The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Time Out New York. Birbiglia brought the show to more than 70 cities worldwide and ended with a final performance at New York's Carnegie Hall. The show was filmed in Seattle and premiered on Netflix, and will be available on CD, DVD and on iTunes beginning November 26th.

In 2012 Birbiglia directed and starred in the critically acclaimed feature film adaptation of his one-man show, Sleepwalk With Me. The film went on to become one of the top three most critically acclaimed comedies of the year on Rotten Tomatoes.
