Nov. 15--SUN & SAND -- The Mississippi Music & Film Festival kicked off earlier this week with screenings on Wednesday and Thursday at the Saenger Theatre in Biloxi and at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs, but the best is yet to come.

Today at the Saenger, the festival will feature panel discussions on such film industry topics as Movie Making in Mississippi and production legal, accounting and pre-production and Saturday's panel discussion topics including producing, directing, equipment, cast, crew, locations, wardrobe and set decorating.

Best of all, however, is there are plenty of films to be seen at both locations through Saturday, including "Big Sur" based on the novel by Jack Kerouac at 9:30 tonight at the Saenger and the James Franco film adaptation of the William Faulkner novel "As I Lay Dying" at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Saenger.

All film screenings are subject to change without notice.

Admission per screening is $10 for adults and $5 for students. General admission tickets for Collective Soul, playing at Hard Rock Casino Biloxi, start at $19.99; doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Other events are being planned for Sun & Sand, including a display of custom motorcycles and automobiles used in feature films and a small production setup across from Hard Rock and the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, where visitors can see how filming works.
