"As a viewer, I'm a huge fan of the show, and as a musician, I have great respect for how the producers of 'Scandal' use music to help set the tone and advance the story line," said Balter. "Having my work incorporated into a show that is so loved by critics and fans alike is an absolute thrill for me both personally and professionally."

Balter's "star" students include Holly Hunter (The Piano), Tom Cruise (Interview with the Vampire), Sandra Bullock (The Net), Scarlett Johansson, Jack Black, Greg Kinnear and many more. Her award-winning CD "Music from My Heart," which includes "Bluesie," won three Los Angeles Music Awards, and has been praised by iconic musicians including Taj Mahal and Thomas Newman. Her compositions have been featured in movies as diverse as Date Night, starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell, and Beauty Shop to name just a few.

Balter is an active member of the Playing For Change Foundation National Advisory Board (www.playingforchange.org). In September, the performance of Balter and her students was the highlight of the 3rd Annual International Playing For Change Day Concert.

Balter's piano coaching career was catapulted when she signed on to work with Holly Hunter for the film The Piano. Hunter would go on to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance. Following the success of The Piano, Balter coached Tom Cruise (Interview with the Vampire), Scarlett Johansson (The Man Who Wasn't There), Sandra Bullock (The Net), Jack Black (The Holiday), Barbara Hershey (Portrait Of A Lady), and Kevin Spacey (Beyond The Sea). Balter coached Paige Hurd and Djimon Honsou and composed the piece "Finding My Wings" for the MGM film Beauty Shop.
