-- The Detroit Film Theatre, located inside the Detroit Institute of Arts, has been home since 1974 to the popular DFT series that features the best in movies from around the globe. The movie theater was built in 1927, which makes it the first major museum in North America to exhibit film as an art form. The elegant design was a collaboration involving C. Howard Crane, the Detroit architect known for sites like the Fox Theatre.

-- The Fillmore Detroit, located on Woodward Avenue across the street from Comerica Park, is the latest incarnation of a historic movie house dating to 1925. With its 80-foot theater ceiling and grand chandeliers, it today hosts concerts by top bands and solo artists and special events like the Detroit premiere of the "Burn" firefighter documentary.
