PerkinElmer Inc. introduces the AxlON iQT Gas Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS/MS). The AxlON iQT system provides greater quantitative capabilities to that of a triple quadrupole, while quickly identifying compounds like a quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF) at a rate of up to 500 compounds per second. The new mass spectrometer provides laboratories with easier to use technology, faster results and more specific, selective data needed to make more accurate decisions faster. The AxlON iQT system is the first MS/ MS technology that delivers automated method development tools to users, includes advanced application-centric software and provides easy maintenance due to its smart modular system. The new system can thoroughly characterize and easily quantify compounds for a variety of applications, including the analysis of pesticides in food samples to ensure food safety and authenticity, quantitation of non-derivatized steroids, cholesterol and therapeutic drug monitoring in research applications, analysis of drugs in forensic toxicology and through analysis of chemical compositions.

DIGITAL PADDLE VISCOMETER
CANNON Instrument Co. introduces the CANNON Thermoelectric Digital Paddle Viscometer (TE-DPV), which accurately measures the viscosity of asphalt emulsions, residual oils, slurries and similar materials between 30 and 3,000 centipoise (mPa-s) at temperatures of 25 C, 40 C, 50 C, 80 C and 100 C. The TEDPV is totally self-contained and can also be used for other applications consistent with its temperature control and viscosity measurement capabilities. The TEDPV provides a rugged cost-effective and automated alternative to older, labor-intensive and less precise instrumentation and methodologies. The instrument is easy to clean and can determine the viscosity of liquids, yielding results with an accuracy of five percent or better for most materials. A digital display on the front panel of the head unit indicates dynamic viscosity as cP or mP-s, or as kinematic viscosity as cSt or mm2/s if a known density value is input by the operator. Upon completion of a test, the display indicates the final test temperature and viscosity.

SOFTWARE DELIVERS TOTAL CONTROL OF TEST PARAMETERS AND DATA COLLECTION
Brookfield Engineering introduces RheocalcT Software, which delivers total control of both instrument and test parameters. RheocalcT gives operators the ability to fully automated viscosity testing from a dedicated PC when using the new DV3T Touch Screen Rheometer and the new DV2T Touch Screen Viscometer. The user interface for RheocalcT presents an enhanced range of choices for test method creation and data gathering/analysis. Loop functions allow performance of repetitive tasks on test samples that require viscosity measurement at multiple rotational speeds, different temperature set points and discreet time intervals. Viscosity data averaging is now possible for individual tasks within a test step or over multiple steps in the total test program. These improvements satisfy customer requests for greater flexibility in execution of test method and management of viscosity data. RheocalcT collects data from the instrument and allows it to be saved, viewed, printed, plotted and analyzed. QC limits for acceptable viscosity values can be displayed directly on the data graph so that pass/fail decisions can be made on visual inspection.

Bruker introduces the new LumiMap(TM) Electroluminescence System for uncompromised HB-LED epi wafer process technology. LumiMap joins a suite of other successful Bruker HB-LED epi metrology tools, and it incorporates many of the advanced features of Bruker's flagship metrology products. Proprietary, patent-pending features of the new system include the durable conducting probe, a unique wafer edge contact solution and advanced l-V curve modeling for accurate and repeatable forward voltage value measurement. These features enable LumiMap to deliver the most accurate and repeatable forward and reverse IV characteristics, spectral intensity, wavelength and spectral width measurements on 2- to 6-inch epi wafers, with a wide range of current settings.
