Microsoft confirmed its Windows 8.1 update is now available for download. The update is free for customers with 8.0 devices, including computers, laptops and tablets. Among the changes in the update are a return of the Start button on the desktop and further integration of the Skydrive storage service, especially for mobile devices. The new software also has expanded multitasking and search features and a redesigned Windows Store for apps. The download is available in more than 230 markets and 37 languages at launch and will come installed on all new Windows devices from 18 October.
