Contributors can then browse the website and pick a specific program -- or general subject areas, such as literacy, healthy and wellness, science and math, or the arts -- they want their money to benefit.
Or, they look up any school within the school district to check to see what programs are in need and choose to have their donation go there.
The website shows how much money is required to fulfil each request and the percentage of funding for the program that has been received.

Kavanagh will spend the
Kavanagh, who teaches freshman English and an AVID college readiness course in addition to poetry, said he plans to use the program to provide peer feedback. He said the software program allows him to post 20 poems online and assign other students to look at them and comment on them. The author can then review feedback and make alterations, if they wish.
"There's an adage among teachers: three before me," he said, meaning that three sets of eyes should review an assignment before it's turned in. "I could ask them to swap papers and give comments, but kids aren't going to do a good job of that. If the feedback they get isn't meaningful, we've lost 45 minutes.
"What VoiceThread does is it records a voice and visual message. The engagement is a lot more meaningful."
Kavanagh said he's had experience using the software while in graduate school at the
"I'll try it out with my poetry classes first, then roll it into my core classes," he said.
