Pakistan's Prime Miniser Nawaz Sharif has approved policy directives for the spectrum auction for next generation mobile services. Following the formal approval by the Prime Minister, the ICT ministry has issued policy directives for the 3G and beyond spectrum auction to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which will carry out the auction. The PTA has told the government the auction will be completed by the end of February 2014, the Business Recorder writes. The auction will be technology neutral and will be open to new entrants as well, offering a fifteen-year licence. As identified by Frequency Allocation Board (FAB), 30 MHz of paired spectrum in 1.9 GHz/2.1 GHz band is available for the auction. The policy directive stipulates that the government will set the reserve price per 1 MHz after receiving a report from a consultant.
