Thailand's Cabinet has approved the plan by state-owned telecommunications carrier CAT Telecom to invest THB 14.55 billion to further develop its 3G service and network on 850 MHz spectrum under the CAT-True partnership agreement. The plan has already been approved by the State Enterprise Policy Office as well, The Nation reports. CAT and True signed wholesale-resale and network rental deals in January 2011. Under the deals, True unit BFKT rents out the 850 MHz network to CAT and True to provide 3G broadband services. Furthermore, CAT sells capacity to True's subsidiary Real Move and CAT also uses some of the capacity to provide its own retail service. Now, CAT Telecom plans to invest THB 12.53 billion on the transmission system and THB 670 million on core network rollout.
