BELLEVUE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/07/13 -- Today, Clipboard, the best way to save and share anything online, announced that it is taking a strategic investment from Scientia, a worldwide leader in timetabling and scheduling solutions for educational institutions. This new investment is Clipboard's largest single investment to date and it will be added to the company's previous funding of $1.5 million. It marks the beginning of a joint product development effort by Clipboard and Scientia that will focus on advancing the state-of-the-art in online collaboration and extending it into the education market.
Launched publicly on May 31, 2012, Clipboard is a living archive online. Its unique technology allows users to clip, save and share text, images and virtually anything from the Internet while preserving the visual look, feel, and style of the original item including hyperlinks and videos. By default, all activity on Clipboard is private, making it a suitable solution for researching private and professional content.
"Scientia is very excited to support Clipboard, we have been impressed with the toolset it has created and we share a common vision for how collaboration will evolve," said Baron Steven Bentinck, chairman of Scientia Limited. "The potential for educational markets with Clipboard is immense, the company's powerful features allow for first-of-a-kind collaboration around research, classwork, projects and more from across the web."
Clipboard surpassed 100,000 registered users in December 2012, yielding an average month-over-month growth rate of 40 percent for 15 months since its private beta in October of 2011. In that time, Clipboard has received more than 4.2 million page views and Clipboard users have saved more than 1.7 million clips -- 20 percent of those have been published with others, 48 percent have been tagged and 67 percent of the clips have been manually annotated.
"Our growth and engagement metrics clearly show that people need to privately save and share items of interest from the Web with one another," said Gary Flake, CEO and founder of Clipboard. "Moreover, our strategic investment from Scientia validates that Clipboard is on the right path and we will continue offering the best products for saving and sharing the web, privately and publicly."
Clipboard is the best way to save, organize and share anything from the Internet. It is the only service that allows users to clip the Internet, preserving the visual look, style, feel, and richness of the original item and share that "clip" with others. Clipboard is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. For more information please visit: https://clipboard.com.
