The inauguralHot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson will takeplace in Reno Tahoe, Aug. 8-10, 2013. "The only missing piece in Hot August Nights' successful puzzle was aBarrett-Jackson Auction," said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO ofBarrett-Jackson. "Our collectors in Canada, Seattle, San Francisco and theSilicon Valley have been asking -- for decades -- for an auction in theirregion. The partnership with Hot August Nights provides the perfectatmosphere of automotive passion to make that happen."
Hot August Nights Reno Tahoe came as an opportunity for Barrett-Jackson andsignifies the next evolution in its series of collector car auctions aroundthe U.S. The auction quickly outgrew the Orange County Fairgrounds, expanding beyond both the site and the tent that the company had to bringin. In a move that will further improve its organization, Barrett-Jacksonselected Hot August Nights to serve its buyers in California, the PacificNorthwest and the Southwest, as well as the audience that already attendsthe Reno Tahoe event.
"Orange County has been good to Barrett-Jackson and Southern Californiawill remain an important market for us," said Steve Davis, president ofBarrett-Jackson. "Though it is time to expand our physical footprint, we dovalue our partnership with the City of Costa Mesa and the OC Fair and EventCenter."
This isn't the first time that Barrett-Jackson has had to evolve in orderto meet growth demands. From 2001 to 2004, Barrett-Jackson held a SouthernCalifornia auction at the Petersen Automotive Museum and then due topopular demand returned to Southern California with the Orange CountyAuction in 2010.
Now in its 27th year, Hot August Nights combines the classic cars andclassic sounds of the 50s, 60s and 70s creating the world's largest eventdedicated to "celebrating America's love affair with cars and rock 'n'roll." The event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year tonorthern Nevada providing them the opportunity to participate in organizedcruises, drag races, show-n-shines, concerts and more.
The move is also a great way to extend car culture and convenience toBarrett-Jackson fans and bidders attending the auction at Hot AugustNights. This allows them to easily proceed into the various automotiveactivities that follow in Monterey, surrounding the world-renowned PebbleBeach Concours d'Elegance.
"Since 1986, Hot August Nights has evolved into one of the most celebratedclassic car entertainment experiences in the world and has becomesynonymous with the Reno Tahoe community," said Tony Marini, executivedirector of Hot August Nights. "Over the past two years we've had theopportunity to work with some of the businesses and companies we admiremost in the automobile industry to take this event to the next level.Bringing Barrett-Jackson and its loyal fan base to Hot August Nightscreates a long-term partnership that will further establish both brands asthe leaders in their respected fields."
