MWW (www.mww.com), one of the top ten global independent public relations firms, will host two events during Social Media Week in Los Angeles and Chicago on September 27. The Chicago panel, hosted by Carreen Winters, MWW's EVP of Corporate Communications, will discuss the importance of a social CEO to any organization's reputation. The Los Angeles panel will provide actionable tips on turning enthusiastic consumers into brand advocates, hosted by MWW's EVP and Global Director of Digital and Creative, Jared Hendler.
"Social Media Week offers the unique opportunity for marketers and communications pros of all stripes to share insights and best social practices that help brands and companies matter more," said Michael W. Kempner, president and CEO of MWW. "Led by our own Carreen Winters and Jared Hendler, this year's panels will leverage and build on our agency's expertise socializing the C-suite and increasing not just brand loyalty, but brand advocacy, two issues that should be forefront on any CEO and CMOs minds in today's media environment."
The first panel, "The New Leadership Imperative: A Social CEO," moderated by Carreen Winters, will be located at Tribune Tower in Chicago at 1 p.m. CST. The panel will discuss the gap between a CEO's awareness of the transformative power of social media and the low number of Fortune 500 CEOs who actually participate in it. Winters, along with esteemed panelists, including a number of social CEOs, will highlight the critical role social media plays in creating positive stakeholder engagement and building relevance and trust in a brand. Panelists include Ed Brill, director of social business & collaboration solutions at IBM; Frank Sorrentino III, chairman & chief executive officer of North Jersey Community Bank; and Paul Kalbfleisch, owner of PAUL Consulting Inc.
The Los Angeles panel, "The Power of Brand Advocates," will be held at IO/LA at 10:30 a.m. PST. Jared Hendler will moderate a discussion of business leaders on how brands can remain relevant in a cluttered marketplace and turn passive enthusiasts into passionate advocates for their brands. Panelists include Amahlia Stevens, designer & founder of Vitamin A; Jason Reuben, vice president of operational strategy at BeachMint, Inc.; Sheriece Matias manager of corporate communications at Subaru of America; and William Barnes, general manager of Uber Los Angeles.
Social Media Week is a bi-annual event that convenes more than 100,000 participants in person and online to discuss emerging trends in technology, social media and mobile. This year, Social Media Week is being held September 24-28 in 14 cities across the globe, in Barcelona, Berlin, Bogota, Chicago, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Jeddah, London, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Shanghai, Torino and Vancouver.
