SANFORD, ME -- (Marketwire) -- 08/23/12 -- Plixer International, Inc., a leading provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting and threat detection technology, announced today its West Coast Advanced NetFlow Training courses. The unique training is designed to help companies avoid similar data breaches that nearly 272 companies already reported in the first six months of 2012 -- affecting at least 18.5 million records -- by gathering and monitoring data already existing within their networks. West Coast sessions will be conducted on September 13th in Los Angeles, CA, and on September 27th, in Seattle, WA.

Flow technology provides a 24x7 account of all network activity -- much like a CCTV system for the enterprise. Given the relatively light-weight nature of flow data, organizations can store weeks or months of flows without spending hundreds of dollars on expensive packet libraries. If a security breach occurs, the information needed to identity the root cause and enact an orderly clean-up is already available in the flows.

"Given the increased threat from mobile malware, botnets, and other harmful intrusions, IT professionals now require new forensic methods to detect, react and resolve these problems in order to secure the enterprise network from possible attacks," states Adam Powers, Chief Security Officer. "In addition, Flow collection and threat detection is the best strategy for organizations concerned with the security issues brought on by the increasing amount of personal smartphones and tablets (BYOD) connecting to corporate networks. Monitoring NetFlow traffic patterns is the simplest, and one of the most effective methods, for ensuring proper visibility into how these devices are impacting the network."

IT security professionals can be trained by most knowledgeable NetFlow & IPFIX network professionals in the industry by registering for Advanced NetFlow Training courses and take their network troubleshooting abilities to the next level with:

•Hands on training with hardware from such vendors as Cisco, Enterasys, SonicWALL •Real-time trouble-shooting and reconnaissance on voice, video and data traffic •Leading edge Flexible NetFlow exports on performance monitoring, nBar2, performance routing, smart logging telemetry, Cisco ASA NSEL and other firewall exports
