LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/20/12 -- Local communities are full of wounded warrior support organizations trying to make a difference for our nation's post-combat veterans. Often, the overwhelming options make it difficult for citizens to navigate the most effective outlet for donations, meaning that a veteran might miss out on a valuable service -- until now. Beginning on Monday, August 20th, Harvesting Happiness For Heroes® and Groupon Grassroots, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, will launch the innovative HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign, a collaborative local citizen fundraising campaign to aid veterans, wounded warriors and their families across the nation, heal from the invisible wounds of combat through online programming. Post-combat veterans like Stevie Thompson and Desmond Rice of Los Angeles are among the many across the country praising the efforts of HH4Heroes® in their post combat recovery, offering proof that the HH4Heroes® program has already had a big impact in the veteran world.
CBS News (June 7, 2012) through The Associated Press, reported in an article titled, "U.S. military averaging a suicide a day in 2012" that suicides among returning veterans are surpassing those killed in action on the battlefield. Through the Groupon Grassroots/ HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign, civilians have an opportunity to support a stigma-free virtual positive psychology coaching classroom program, with a click of a button. Unlike traditional psychotherapy, the HH4Heroes® innovative virtual program is results driven, helping veterans learn how to manage the post-combat side effects of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), MSA (Military Sexual Assault) and MST (Military Sexual Trauma) before they become a terminal statistic of war. "There are many organizations doing wonderful things to offer short term aid to our recovering post combat warriors, but our veterans are also in great need of sustained healing. That type of healing can only come through a long-term focused program addressing how to manage the combat experience as a whole. Relief from Post-Traumatic Stress symptoms and a sense of greater overall wellbeing in reintegration is the mission of HH4Heroes. That is why HH4Heroes® exists. It's what makes us unique in our support to a growing veteran demographic," says Founder and Managing Director, Lisa Cypers Kamen.
Why should local citizens donate to the Groupon Grassroots/HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign? If one is interested in making a long term sustainable impact in the wounded warrior/veteran support realm, they can be confident that their donation to the innovative campaign will make a difference. HH4Heroes® offers stigma free comprehensive services to the nation's warriors and loved ones challenged by Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and other post-deployment reintegration issues. The unique HH4Heroes® online virtual positive psychology management curriculum, serves to transform PTS into Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) in small online classroom segments making a big impact. Veterans learn to decompress from combat trauma using effective, practical, personal management tools that can assist in PTSD healing, leading to more adjusted civilian veterans, from the comfort of their own homes. Donating to the unique Groupon Grassroots/HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign, citizens will innovatively help address both the invisible and physical wounds of combat service-essentially healing our post combat veterans from the inside-out.
Groupon Grassroots uses collective action to gather support for worthwhile causes and produce tangible results for local organizations. "We are happy to embrace the innovative collective action model of Groupon Grassroots, as we appeal to civilians for their support in our Harvesting Happiness For Heroes® warrior support efforts," said Kamen. "We look forward to creating new national awareness for HH4Heroes® as one of the local organizations in Los Angeles to be featured on Groupon Grassroots." The HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign will be available on the Los Angeles Groupon Grassroots page beginning on Monday, August 20th through Sunday, August 26th. Utilizing Groupon Grassroots' collective action model, Groupon subscribers can pledge support for the HH4Heroes® REBOOT Campaign initiative in increments of $10, $25 and $120. Each $120 provides six weeks of online programming for a Veteran. "The first $1000 in donations will allow us to set up the systems necessary to provide the HH4Heroes® coaching curriculum online to our Warriors free of charge to them. Each $120 donation after that amount will give another Warrior the help that so many are asking for," states Kamen.
One hundred percent of the Groupon Grassroots campaign proceeds will be used to provide HH4Heroes® transformational coaching online. HH4Heroes® is a GuideStar rated corporation. Go to HH4Heroes.org to donate now.
