Actor Morgan Freeman donated $1 million to Priorities USA Action, the super PAC helping President Barack Obama, officials said. When donating the money, Freeman hailed Obama on a number of issues, including ending combat in Iraq, his health care law and imposing new rules on Wall Street, USA Today reported.
"President Obama has done a remarkable job in historically difficult circumstances," Freeman said. "In return, he is the target of hundreds of millions of dollars from right-wing sources. I am proud to lend my voice -- and support -- to those who defend him."
Priorities USA airs ads that attack Republican candidate Mitt Romney for his job-creating efforts at Bain Capital.
Freeman's donation makes up a large part of June's overall $6.1 million fundraising total, which is much less than the $20 million the pro-Romney group, Restore Our Future, took in.
