Fidelity Wins Naval Support Contract

Fidelity Technologies Corp. announced the addition of a five-year, $33.5 million contract with the Chief of Naval Air Training to provide maintenance support at several air stations throughout the country.

Members of the company's field services division, according to the news release, will be maintaining training devices for weapon system officers. They will be placed at stations in Mississippi, Texas and Florida.

The release from the Muhlenberg Township defense contractor also said that in a separate contract, Fidelity has been providing instructors to train pilots at the same air stations.

In a prepared statement, David Gulati, president of Fidelity, said, "We attribute our success to years of experience, an exceptional management team and a skilled technical staff -- resulting in outstanding program performance and responsiveness to customer needs."

Noah's Mini Golf gets renovations

Noah's Mini Golf is being renovated, but is still open to the public.

The St. Lawrence miniature golf course, next to Rita's Water Ice, is being restored, said Josh Nowotarski, owner.

Nowotarski said he decided to spruce things up as one of the oldest miniature golf courses in Berks. Renovations include landscaping, painting and cement work; new greens; and restoration to a waterfall and pond.

Nowotarski said the process, which started May 5, is set to be completed by the first weekend in June, pending good weather.

Penske Truck Rental and SpareFoot team up

Penske Truck Rental and self-storage startup SpareFoot announced a collaboration which will provide truck rental customers with storage options.

Penske customers will be able to reserve a storage unit at any of the more than 6,000 storage properties offered through SpareFoot's comparison shopping platform.

SpareFoot is a Web-based company that allows customers to compare prices of storage units in their area.

Don Mikes, senior vice president of rental for the Reading-based company said, in a prepared statement: "This collaboration with SpareFoot will make for a more convenient moving experience for our customers. We're looking forward to beginning work with this innovative company."

Business tour running in June

The Best Kept Secrets Tour is kicking off its Berks tour June 15 through June 30.

The tour is a multiday shopping event that features Berks County businesses.

Led by the tour organizer, Melissa K. Nordhoff, Ephrata, 35 small business owners are visited by tour-goers during the 15-day period. People taking the tour are treated to events and discounts at the participating locations.
