The GIC Group and Bric Global Agricultural Consultants will be hosting the first international conference on global investment opportunities in food safety. The China Agribusiness and Food Safety Investment Summit will be held June 19-21 in Beijing at the Friendship Hotel. Key speakers will be the Vice Premier of China, the President of JP Morgan, Asia Pacific Region, and panelists representating the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, Legend Holdings, CITIC Private Equity Funds Management, Temasek Holdings, Olympus Capital Holdings, Asia and Bright Foods Co.
The conference will serve as a platform for identifying important investment opportunities in food safety and discussing specific challenges and new market developments with respect toChina and the food and agribusiness sectors. Key topics will include new investment regulations for foreign entities, the internationalization of the yuan, outbound direct investment (ODI) opportunities for Chinese firms and investors, and the food safety investment needs of SMEs. Notable speakers will include the Vice President of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC); the Director of the SME Division from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC); the Chairman of CITIC Private Equity Funds Management Co. Ltd. (CITIC PE); the President of the Asia Pacific Region for J.P. Morgan; and the Senior Vice President of Legend Holdings (Lenovo).
In conjunction with the summit, the Global Food Safety Forum (GFSF) will hold an inaugural meeting of its GFSF China Council, the newly established local chapter of Global Food Safety Forum. The China Council's mission will be to expand on the work begun by the GFSF Roundtable and to continue the organization??s activities in China through new workshops, training seminars, dialogue with government agencies and regulatory bodies, and future investment summits aimed at identifying key opportunities in the areas of food, agribusiness, and food safety.
