The death toll of soccer fans killed following a match in Port Said, Egypt, has reached 74, the Associated Press reported.
Egyptians publically and privately blamed police and the military for hooliganism following a match between the Port Said and Cairo football clubs.
Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri dissolved the Egyptian Soccer Federation's board in an emergency session of Parliament, and said the governor of the province and the regional police chief have quit their posts, according to the report.
"These kind of events can happen anywhere in the world but we will not let those behind this get away," Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who heads Egypt's ruling council, said on Egyptian TV.
Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said at least 47 people were arrested following the riot, according to MSNBC.
MSNBC.com's photo blog has pictures of the chaos as fans of the visiting Cairo team made their way back home.
