Beyonce and Jay-Z have applied to trademark their daughter's name, according to NME.com. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office had reportedly turned down two applications to use the name for a line of baby clothes and a line of fragrances.
Designer Joseph Mbeh issued a statement half-heartedly apologizing for attempting to trademark the name, saying that he wanted to "ultimately present the idea to the Carters in hopes that a business relationship could be formed to create Blue Ivy Carter NYC for them."
Drug shops in California have also dubbed a new strain of marijuana "OG Blue Ivy." (No comment from the parents, but we'd just say no.)
Mama B is already back in the spotlight. She stepped out, looking fabulous, Monday after Jay-Z's first Carnegie Hall concert (and was spotted again Tuesday). She's also giving amateur DJs an opportunity to remix tune End of Time. One winner will receive $4,000 and may appear on an upcoming release.
Simon Cowell has also denied rumors that Beyonce is in the running to join the judging table on The X Factor.
"The budget for the show is $100 million. That would never ever happen. It's absolute nonsense," he told Billboard. "No one is going to pay $100 million for someone. I genuinely haven't had a conversation with her about it. Not at all."
