MIAMI, Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- America TeVe, the leading independent station in South Florida, was recognized by the Suncoast Regional Chapter of the National Academy of Television (NATAS, for its acronym in English) in nine categories, receiving a total of sixteen Emmy Awards(R).

America TeVe WFUN produces 9 hours of live programming every day, spanning the spectrum from news and analysis to entertainment and variety. This time, America TeVe WFUN surpassed its local competitors in South Florida, Telemundo 51 (10 statuettes - 4 categories) and Univision 23 (1 statuette - 1 category) as well as all other fifteen stations nominated, with the exception of CBS Miami WFOR (17 statuettes - 7 categories).
The presentation of the Suncoast Emmy Awards is intended to be an incentive for the continued pursuit of excellence for those working in the television industry and to focus public attention on outstanding cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational achievements in television. The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences comprises the television markets in the entire State of Florida, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama, Thomasville, Georgia and Puerto Rico.
