EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/14/12 -- Focused on enhancing the customer experience, Edmonton has launched a new Twisitor Centre, a concept designed to engage tourists through an online digital platform. Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) led the charge on this new initiative in an effort to continue to enhance the customer service experience of visitors to the region. The virtual visitor information centre launched on December 10, using Twitter, will enable guests to get timely information and answers to their specific questions regarding travel and tourism in Edmonton.
While digital communication is not new for EEDC, this is another platform allowing the organization to connect with customers and provide an enhanced, timely service. "In an increasingly competitive global market, customer service and accessibility of information is crucial," says Jenifer Christenson, executive director of external relations at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. "An important part of providing great customer service involves being available on the broad range of mediums our customers wish to communicate through," says Christenson.
Visitors are encouraged to send a tweet to @EdmontonTourism with questions about their Edmonton visit using the hashtag #visityeg. Information for the best shopping, dining hot spots, attractions, activities, or finding a hotel can be accessed through subject matter experts responding on behalf of the Twisitor Centre.
"Consumers continue to adopt digital platforms as another means of gathering information. The Twisitor Centre concept provides our subject matter experts another platform to connect with visitors and provide information about what's happening in our region. It is important that guests to the region have timely access to information and the Twisitor Centre is another platform we will use to ensure visitors are aware of what's going on in Edmonton and get the information they need on all the city has to offer," says Christenson.
Edmonton Tourism's team of experts will tweet responses to requests and questions that come in through the Twisitor Centre. Visitors on Twitter can expect a timely response during regular business hours 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Friday and 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday. Incidentally, Edmonton is the first destination marketing organization in Alberta to offer a Twisitor Centre.
