ST. LOUIS, MO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/12/12 -- In anticipation of the AAA Christmas holiday travel announcement, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America's largest rental car brand, reports today that advance reservations are currently up more than 25 percent over last year. This data comes from Enterprise's neighborhood locations and points to the continuing popularity of the holiday road trip in 2012.
"Year-over-year we've generally seen an increase in reservations for the Christmas holiday," said Steve Short, vice president, Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "The continued rise in holiday reservations suggests people are thinking of car rental as a convenient and reliable resource as opposed to other modes of transportation."
Approximately 5,500 Enterprise neighborhood offices are located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. Enterprise operates more than twice as many locations as its nearest U.S. competitor and continues to lead the home-city market.
"The age of today's average car is 11 years and people are simply looking for newer, more reliable options when it comes to travel," Short added. "Whether they want more room or the opportunity for family bonding on wheels, Enterprise Rent-A-Car provides options that work for today's traveler."

About Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Founded in 1957 and known for an extensive network of locations, everyday low rates and outstanding customer service, Enterprise Rent-A-Car operates not only as a key provider for insurance replacement, weekend getaways and special occasions, but also as a local transportation alternative. For example, many consumers rely on mass transit during the week or simply cannot afford to purchase or maintain a vehicle on their own -- so they often depend on local Virtual Car® rental service and take advantage of Enterprise's "everyday low price," including popular weekend rates starting at $9.99 per day (the rate includes 100 free miles a day).
St. Louis-based Enterprise Holdings owns and operates -- through its regional subsidiaries -- the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand. Its worldwide network includes more than 7,700 neighborhood and airport locations, with 5,500 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. This news release and other announcements are available at the Enterprise Holdings press room.
