SCRUB ISLAND, VIRGIN ISLANDS -- (Marketwire) -- 11/30/12 -- Recently honored with an abundance of top travel awards, a luxury Scrub Island hotel quickly credits hard work and a commitment to excellence as the mainstay for its success.
While basking in the limelight with a litany of honors, the Marriott's ever-impressive Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, Autograph Collection® is looking to continue up the ladder of success with the dedicated efforts of its steadfast team of hospitality professionals.
Over the past few months the new British Virgin Islands luxury resort has been named among the best of the best by the following travel magazines:
•Top 30 Caribbean Hotels, Reader's Choice Award by Conde Nast Traveler •Best Resort by Virgin Islands Yacht & Property •Top 10 Spas in the Caribbean by Caribbean Travel + Life •Top 30 Villas by Caribbean Travel + Life
"It is an honor to be recognized by such an outstanding publication as one of the top hotels in the area," said Norwood Smith, vice president of marketing and sales of the Marriott's new luxury spa in the Caribbean after learning of the resort's selection by readers of Conde Nast Traveler. "We hope to continue our climb to the top as more of our fabulous guests share their experiences from the resort and influence others to visit the property for themselves."
The honors handed out were based on reviews of readers of these three prominent publications, all recognized as outstanding travel authorities. Conde Nast Traveler had more than 46,400 travelers cast ballots in this year's annual Readers' Choice survey, while the editors of Caribbean Travel + Life tallied more than 150,000 votes to establish the winners of their prestigious honors. The honor from Virgin Islands Property & Yacht came from open balloting by locals and tourists alike via online balloting and the magazine's social media outlets. Opened in July 2010 as the first new private island resort to be built in the British Virgin Islands in more than 15 years and a member of the Marriott's new Autograph Collection, Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina features 52 guest accommodations along with a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury villas in BVI for the ultimate in island relaxation. Accessible by boat or helicopter, the resort features a 55-slip marina to accommodate private vessels and is home to the Ixora Spa, nestled inside a luxurious hillside villa overlooking the resort.
