A computer outage temporarily delayed some United Airlines flights, but the issue was quickly resolved, the U.S. airline said.
Immediately prior to 11 a.m. Thursday, a United spokesman said, the airline's computer system was "back up and running" and operations were "getting back to normal."
Only a few flights were canceled, the flight-tracking website Flightaware.com said, and a Port Authority of New York spokesman reported 30-minute delays at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The computer outage was at least the second for United since it switched to Shares, the reservation system of Continental Airlines, which it acquired when the two airlines merged in 2010. A problem in August 2011 resulted in a 2-hour outage causing 580 flight delays and nine cancellations, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
