Digital First Media Wins 9 EPPY Awards

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/31/12 -- Digital First Media, which operates MediaNews Group, Journal Register Company and Digital First Ventures, won nine 2012 EPPY Awards, Editor & Publisher's annual honors for the best media-affiliated websites.

The Salt Lake Tribune was honored as the co-winner of Best Daily Newspaper Website (with more than 1 million monthly unique visitors).

Digital First Media's multi-newsroom collaborative site American Homecomings -- which chronicles the lives of returning veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars -- was named Best Community Service of a Media-Affiliated Website (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors).

The Denver Post received multiple EPPY honors including Best Spanish-Language Newspaper Website (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for VivaColorado.com. The Denver Post was also honored for Best Crowd Sourcing/Citizen Journalism (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for NextGen.YourHub.com -- the Post's "next generation" community engagement site produced by the Newspapers in Education staff.

Denver was also honored for Best Business Blog (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for The Balance Sheet; Best Entertainment Blog (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for Reverb; and for Best Sports Blog (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for First and Orange which focuses on the Denver Broncos.

The New Haven Register in New Haven, Conn. and The Register Citizen in Torrington, Conn. were honored for a Digital First Media collaborative effort under Best News/Political Blog (with less than 1 million monthly unique visitors) for coverage of Connecticut's 5th District Congressional Race.
