All a Twitter Over Disney-Star Wars Deal

Disney Wars

The first KABOOM you heard Tuesday afternoon probably was related to the news that Walt Disney Co. is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion and producing more "Star Wars" films, including the so-called "Episode 7" in 2015.

The second, slightly more muffled KABOOM was Twitter blowing up with the news. In general, Disney fans seem elated, "Star Wars" purists less so, but the Twitterverse managed to include humor, politics, theme park expansions and superstorm Sandy in its posts (plus a universe of "Leia is now a Disney Princess" remarks). Here's a sampling, left mostly in the voice of the tweeter:

Darth Vader (?@DepressedDarth) Thankfully Jar Jar Binks is already dead in Star Wars 7.

Imagineering Disney (?@imagineeringdis) Now that Disney will own Lucasfilm, ditch the Avatar plans for Animal Kingdom. Focus on a Star Wars land for DHS (NOT Epcot or Tomorrowland)

Ricky Brigante, Host (?@InsideTheMagic) Iger specifically mentions Hong Kong and Shanghai with regards to more Star Wars in the parks. Hmmm....

Theme Park Insider (?@ThemePark) As much as I'd love to see Star Wars Land tomorrow, Disney first needs to assemble a creative team to oversee Star Wars (movies & all).

screamscape ?(@screamscape) Just thinking... AVATAR, STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES, MARVEL UNIVERSE... that's enough themes for a 3rd theme park in California.

Seth Meyers (?@sethmeyers21) Even though it's limited to Twitter, it is nice to know Sandy can be slowed by Star Wars news.

Josh Horowitz (?@joshuahorowitz) STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?!? WTF?!? IF TWITTER ALLOWED THIS WOULD BE IN A FONT SIZE BIGGER THAN MY HEAD!!!

John Gruber ?(@gruber) Hard to imagine a Star Wars movie opening without the 20th Century Fox fanfare.

Mike Drucker ?(@MikeDrucker) I will vote for whichever candidate stops Star Wars: Episode 7 from happening.

Caissie St.Onge ?(@Caissie) You won't like any new Star Wars movie, but it won't be because of Disney. It will be because you're a grownup.

Dave Navarro ?(@DaveNavarro) Not psyched about the Disney buy out of Star Wars... Rides, merch, sequels.... At least I have my OG VHS version of the 1977 version :)

LittleKuriboh (?@yugiohtas) I can't wait for the inevitable Phineas & Ferb/Star Wars crossover. Not even joking.

John Berman ?(@johnsberman) Unanswered questions: does Disney now own the "Star Wars Holiday" special? And if so...will they air it..ever?

Michael Ausiello (?@MichaelAusiello) Dear Mickey Mouse: Please hand the STAR WARS film franchise over to J.J. Abrams or Christopher Nolan or Peter Jackson. xoxo MA

Funny Or Die (?@funnyordie) News of Star Wars Episode 7 instantly surpasses Sandy as the biggest disaster of the week.

Zach Weinersmith (?@ZachWeiner) Worrying that Disney will ruin Star Wars is like worrying that a second iceberg will dive down to hit the Titanic.

Ivonne ?(@servoisnaked) I hope we FINALLY get to see Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters! #SarcasticTweetIsSarcastic

Kyle Kinane ?(@kylekinane) oh good we can talk about star wars some more
