San Francisco Giants Roster Unchanged for World Series

When discussing his lineup, manager Bruce Bochy often says "we're sticking with what got us here."

"Here" is now the World Series, and Bochy is sticking with the roster that got him to this point. The Giants announced Wednesday morning that they will keep the same roster that got them through the NLDS and NLCS, carrying 12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders.

Four players -- Eli Whiteside, Francisco Peguero, Clay Hensley and Jean Machi -- have been traveling with the team and have stayed ready. There was some thought that Bochy could add Whiteside to the roster to free Hector Sanchez up for designated hitter duties, but the Giants elected not to go that way.

Asked about his DH options on Tuesday, Bochy said he would reveal his choice when the series swings to Detroit. "We have two or three options there," Bochy said.

Joaquin Arias could move into the lineup at third base to give the team better defense and allow Pablo Sandoval to DH. The Giants also could use Sanchez as a DH, or Aubrey Huff, Ryan Theriot or Xavier Nady. Theriot has had the most recent success of the group and drove in three runs in the NLCS.
