MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (Marketwire) -- 10/22/12 -- Taking the role of community service seriously, associates of a sophisticated St. Louis Park hotel strive to make a difference in the daily lives of their community by taking part in various events throughout the year.
Giving their time and talents to help with projects like the Ronald McDonald House and Children's Miracle Network, the staff of the Minneapolis Marriott West, a premier hotel and distinctive St. Louis Park event venue, stays busy keeping abreast of activities and assisting local committees and organizations in making the most of their fund-raising and volunteer efforts.
In leading the efforts, the hotel's general manager sits on the CSM Cares Committee, an arm of the hotel's ownership and management firm, which hosts CSM's Shop & Sip fundraising event to benefit Children's Miracle Network and its efforts throughout the Minneapolis area. A stylish choice among hotels in Golden Valley, MN, the Minneapolis Marriott West hotel is also an active supporter of the Ronald McDonald House "Cooks for Kids" program, volunteering the expense, preparation and serving of meals for 90 persons at the Ronald McDonald House on University Avenue. Along with the sponsorship, small groups of hotel staff prepare and serve the meals so families can enjoy a "home-away-from-home" cooked meal after spending what are often long and tiring days at the hospital. Leading the meal preparation efforts in both February and March of 2012, hotel staffers also plan meal preparation for October and have participated in other events such as Jailhouse Rock, contributed nearly $100; and collected over $200 for the charity on St. Patrick's Day through the sale of green bead necklaces. Holding the Ronald McDonald House dear to their hearts, several of the hotel's managers participate in a payroll deduction to benefit the home and everyone at the hotel collects pop tops, with thousands turned in and more collected daily.
Drawing in the support of employees, their families and personal organizations, an example of the dedication was recently depicted when the Brownie Troop, of which Human Resources Director Iina Potter's daughter is a member, made their way to the hotel to decorate 100 breakfast bags for Ronald McDonald House guests. When troop members completed their task, hotel managers filled these very special bags and delivered them to the house so guests could have access to a grab 'n go breakfast to start their busy day.
