PALO ALTO, CA and SEVILLE, SPAIN -- (Marketwire) -- 10/15/12 -- Besol (www.besol.es), the Spanish-based creator of Tapp, a management layer for Cloud infrastructure, today announced that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Guardtime (www.guardtime.com), a leading provider of digital signature technology for validating the integrity and authenticity of digital data, to deliver Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) capability for its partners and customers in Europe, offering seamless SLA-based business continuity, efficient capacity expansion and backup data integrity verification.
Through the partnership, Besol will first make Guardtime DRaaS solution available for Besol's customers like Acens, the leading cloud hosting company in Spain owned by Telefonica, serving more than 100,000 companies.
"Guardtime DRaaS solution fills an important void in cloud infrastructure enabling our partners' customers to easily back up their virtual compute assets, complete with SLAs and near-realtime restore -- and to do it in a most secure and verifyable way possible, thanks to Guardtime Keyless Signature technology integrated to the core of the solution," said Hector Rodriguez, CEO of Besol. "We are talking about a completely unique offering in a marketplace that will shortly become a gold standard in our industry."
Mike Gault, Guardtime CEO, added, "With its superb track record and extensive IaaS partner network in Europe, Besol is a perfect partner for Guardtime, enabling our DRaaS solution to reach more customers, who can now provide SLAs around backup and recovery with an independently verifiable audit trail of everything that happens to customer data while it is in their infrastructure."
In addition to its SLA-backed operational benefits, cloud-based DRaaS is also cost-effective, as enterprises can share spare capacity with other enterprises, and the capacity can fluctuate based upon the time of day, the time of year, or even the season. In the long run, enterprises reduce costs even further by avoiding additional capital investments that one-to-one schemas require and by enabling usage-based billing when disaster recovery is needed.
Besol, through its Tapp.in platform, provides infrastructure management and brokerage across multiple cloud (IaaS) providers. Tapp makes it easy for companies to deploy their infrastructure and manage their servers in a public cloud environment with the ability to seamlessly migrate between public cloud providers. Tapp also provides a multi-cloud disaster recovery that allows the use of third-party backup solutions for customers' server data so it can be recovered in the event of a cloud outage. Tapp is currently compatible with the largest IaaS vendors and was named a 2012 Cool Vendor by Gartner in its report "Cloud Survives Brokerage Enablers."
Guardtime was founded with the goal of solving one of the biggest problems in computing: how to be sure electronic data is authentic. Guardtime's Keyless Signatures provide proof of origin and that not a single bit has changed since a specific point in time. The verification of the signature can be done offline without reliance on keys, secrets, or the existence of a trusted third party. Guardtime's mission is to change the world to one in which Keyless Signatures are ubiquitous and a natural part of the everyday data lifecycle, whether on disk, in transit, or in the Cloud.
