Nominations for the 2012 Latin Trade Bravo Business Awards will remain open through March 15, the magazine announced.
Latin Trade, a leading pan-regional business magazine focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, will honor 12 distinguished regional leaders for excellence and achievement in government, business and civic society at the 18th annual event, according to a news release.
The magazine's Bravo Business Awards are "widely acknowledged as the 'Oscars of Business in Latin America,'" Rosemary Winters, executive director of Latin Trade, said. "Hundreds of thousands of our readers worldwide nominate a broad array of leaders for each category, which is a testament to the talent and the ongoing development we see in the Latin and Caribbean regions."
The categories include Lifetime Achievement, Leader of the Year and Innovative Leader of the Year. The Bravo Council, along with a group of executives, government officials and leading academics, will narrow down the list of candidates based on specific criteria before choosing the winners.
The awards will be presented at a black-tie gala at the Latin Trade Symposium in Miami.
Last year's winners included Leonel Fernandez, president of the Dominican Republic; Laurence Golborne, minister of Public Works, Chile; and Agustin Carstens, governor, Bank of Mexico.
Nominations for the awards can be submitted at www.bravo.latintrade.com.
