Plenty of people say they "can't live without coffee." But studies are increasingly showing that coffee consumption may provide very tangible health benefits. While studies have shown that coffee drinkers enjoy a lower risk of contracting Type 2 diabetes, a new Chinese study has a theory as to why.
The study from several Chinese institutes of higher learning was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. It details the research methodology and findings of how components found in coffee may inhibit "human islet amyloid polypeptide" (hIAPP), which has been linked to diabetes.
Recent coffee-related health studies have shown coffee to fight prostate cancer and fight skin cancer.
