Manpower Group Inc., a jewelry company and a cleaning service will receive business and corporate honors at the 22nd annual Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin awards dinner Saturday at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino Expo Center, 1721 W. Canal St.

Luna Jewelry & Repair LLC and its president, Francisco "Frank" Sandino Jr., will receive the Hispanic business award.

Born in Miami to Colombian immigrants, Sandino also runs Sandino Investments, Sandino Properties and All Pro Moving.

"Despite a tough economic climate, Frank's shrewd business savvy and determination has guided Luna Jewelry and Repair to excel in the retail sector," said Maria Monreal-Cameron, president and CEO of the chamber.

Since 2008, Sandino has expanded to six locations in Milwaukee County, and there are plans for additional outlets, she said.

V.A. Cleaning Services and owners Vicente and Lilian Alvarez also will be honored as a Hispanic Business of 2011. The service has provided residential and commercial cleaning services since 2004.

The company employs five staff members and has more than 500 clients, Monreal-Cameron said in a news release.

Vicente emigrated from Mexico; Lilian from El Salvador.

"Promoting a healthy environment, they will soon launch an eco-friendly line of cleaning products and will be relocating to larger headquarters," Monreal-Cameron said.

Manpower Group Inc. will receive the corporation award for championing job training and workforce development initiatives, promoting increased diversity on corporate boards and at its executive level.

Politicians to be honored

The organization also will recognize government advocates. State Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and State Rep. Jason Fields (D-Milwaukee) will be recognized for their advocacy to advance school choice and other education reforms.

At the dinner, WVTV-TV (Channel 18) will give its Mi Comunidad award to Manni Marquez, director of the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative in the Clarke Square Neighborhood.

Born and raised in the neighborhood, Marquez has shown "leadership, determination and dedication" in working to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood as part of the Zilber Initiative, the award states.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception and auction, followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m., and dancing at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $150 a person. For information, call the chamber at (414) 643-6963.
