Manny Ramirez, a former Los Angeles Dodger, was arrested over a domestic dispute in South Florida.
The baseball slugger was released from jail on a $2,500 bail. Judge John Hurley set bond at $2,500, but "not before telling Ramirez that he could have no direct contact with his wife, and ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from her, their home and her place of work," according to CNN.com.
A recording of his wife, Juliana's, 911 phone call has been released.
"My husband just hit me," Juliana says on the recording.
According to officials, Ramirez was arguing with Juliana and he slapped her face, which caused her to hit her head on their bed's headboard on Monday afternoon.
She declined medical attention when police arrived and Ramirez is denying the charges.
Ramirez can be seen leaving the courthouse here.
