The Top 20 Florida companies in the 2011 Hispanic Business 500 Ranking produced revenues of $11.50 billion in 2010, up substantially from the $7.80 billion reported in 2009. The figure was also up from $9.85 billion in 2008 and $10.26 billion in 2007, showing possible signs of a recovery from the recession. The top 20 employed 18,249 people last year, up from 16,100 in 2009. The list is once again headed by Brightstar Corp., with 2010 revenues of $4.60 billion. Brightstar, managed by CEO R. Marcelo Claure, was once again the No. 1 overall company on the 500, regaining the spot that it held from 2007 through 2009. First Equity Mortgage Bankers Inc., No. 10 in Florida and No. 32 overall, was the Florida company with the largest growth in sales, showing a 91.92 percent increase in revenue from 2009, up from $101.43 million to $194.66 million. Florida companies represent an impressive five of the overall top 10 companies on the 500.
