Of all the controversies for a beauty queen to lose her position over (Carrie Prejean, anyone?), a mere six pounds seems pretty lightweight. For Cynthia de la Vega, a six-pound weight gain is supposedly the reason that the Mexican model and pageant contender is no longer eligible to compete for the title of Miss World.
De la Vega earned her way into the Miss World competition by placing as first runner-up in the Miss Mexico beauty pageant last September. Pageant organizers Nuestra Belleza Mexico say that de la Vega's berth in the competition was terminated due to "lack of dedication and discipline" and a lack of compliance with a set of agreed-upon goals ... not a straight-up weight gain.
