Bellator Fighting Championships hopes to punch out the competition when it brings its Summer Series Featherweight Tournament to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., June 25.
Airing live on MTV2, the card features Brazilian knockout artist Marlon Sandro vs. fellow Brazilian Genair da Silva.
"I am coming to the United States to become a world champion," Sandro said in a press release. "I'm here to put on great fights, entertain fans and fight my way to the Bellator Featherweight Championship."
The three other quarterfinal fights feature an array of international talent. Argentine featherweight Nazareno "Naza" Malegarie squares off with Arizona native Jacob Devree. Britain's Ronnie "Kid Ninja" Mann takes on Adam Schindler, who holds a 9-1 record. And Season 2's lightweight tournament winner, Pat Curran, goes up against Luis Palomino, who's packing a three-fight winning streak.
"I'm just ready to get in that cage and win," Schindler said.
"I'm really excited to get back to a weight class where I can really do some damage," Curran said.
Prelims include female semifinalist Jessica "Jag" Aguilar duking it out with Carla Esparza.
The Bellator championships have become mixed martial art's second-strongest promotion following a three-year teaming with MTV2 and Spanish-language Tr3s, according to the release.
Bellator Fighting Championships is a mixed martial arts promotional company based in Chicago. MTV2, a division of Viacom, is available in nearly 80 million homes, offering a mix of music, lifestyle and action sports programming.
