Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5 and A Perfect Circle will join previously
reported headliners Eminem, Foo Fighters and Muse at Lollapalooza on Aug. 5-7 in Grant
Park, the festival will announce Tuesday.
Also among the artists to be announced by Texas-based promoters C3 Presents
are Cee Lo Green, Damian Marley with Nas, the Cars, Ween, Bright Eyes, Big Audio Dynamite,
Girl Talk, Titus Andronicus, Deftones, Kid Cudi, Sleigh Bells and Arctic Monkeys.
The seventh annual festival will again feature more than 130 performers on
eight stages.
As usual, the festival has only a smattering of hip-hop and world-music
artists, though a handful of Chilean bands -- Chico Trujillo, Los Bunkers and Ana Tijoux --
have been booked as part of a cultural exchange with Lollapalooza Chile, which debuted
April 2-3 in Santiago.
But Lollapalooza 2011 will once again raise the profile of electronic
artists, as affirmed by the headlining status of Deadmau5 (Toronto progressive-house
star Joel Zimmerman) and a significantly larger presence for the Perry's Lounge DJ
stage, which will now be able to accommodate more than 15,000 fans in its new location
west of Columbus Avenue on Hutchinson Field. The stage's namesake, Lollapalooza
co-founder Perry Farrell, will be among the artists, performing under the name
PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox.
Three-day tickets ($215) are available at lollapalooza.com. Single-day
tickets will go on sale June 7. Dates and times of the performances will be announced
at a later date.
Here's the complete lineup that will be announced Tuesday (with a few later
additions expected for the Kidsapalooza stage, which will bring the total number of acts
to 136, according to C3 Presents executive Charles Attal):
