Adored by their fans, the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are giving the love back and allowing them to vote for their favorite songs to complete a new album that will be fit with a new single feauturing both boy bands.
Combining their talents, the bands are going on a national tour under the moniker: NKOTBSB.
The idea was spawned from an enchanting New York City night at the Radio City Music Hall last year. The New Kids on the Block were playing three sold-out shows at the legendary venue, hosting guest acts, including Naughty by Nature and of course, the Backstreet Boys, who joined them on stage for "I Want it That Way."
The screams could not be contained and it launched the idea to team up and make more magic for fans ready to embrace the hysteria that is NKOTBSB.
Amateur YouTube videos from the first performance that fateful NYC evening, boast shaking camera hands trying to capture the match made in music heaven act.
The performance starts with the New Kids sitting on stools with a guitarist--cue a quiet break for anticipation purposes--then the curtains peel back to introduce four members of the Backstreet Boys, who on many occassions have thanked the New Kids for paving the way for their music.
That night has set off a tour, an American Music Awards appearance as well as a live New Year's Eve performance and now, a new single to be featured on a greatest hits album with five songs from each boy band.
On March 14, NKOTBSB launched an online voting system for fans of both groups to pick their favorite hits and the first (limited) fans to preorder the disc will get their names listed in the packaging of the CD.
The new single is called "Don't Turn Out The Lights."
As of March 15 at about 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Standard), fans top choices are:
New Kids on the Block:
