CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/20/11 -- Sienna Gold Inc. ("Sienna" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: SGP) (LMA: SGP) is very pleased to announce the results of the first three drill holes at Callanquitas on the Igor project, La Libertad, Peru. The three holes, all drilled on the same east - west oriented section, totalled 776 meters (m). They were designed to test the top 150 m of the Callanquitas structure, a north-striking structure with gold-silver. Each hole intersected the structure at the predicted depths.

Mineralized structures were intersected in all holes. CA-11-11 returned the best results, with 30 m at an average grade of 0.508 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 306.1. g/t silver. This included 5.7 m with 0.665 g/t gold and 877.0 g/t silver. The highest sample was from this interval and was 0.6 meters with 1.623 g/t gold and 3995.0 g/t silver.

Significant assay results CA-11-09, CA-11-10 and CA-11-11 are presented below:

The Callanquitas Structure

Dr. Owen Miller, Exploration Manager, comments, "We are extremely pleased with the results from holes CA-11-09, CA-11-10 and CA-11-11. They provide further support for the geological model developed in the 2010-2011 drill campaign: a relatively wide lower grade structure with high grade ore shoots.

We are particularly excited by the very high grade silver mineralization. These high grade ore shoots open up the possibility of rapidly increasing the size of the resource on the Igor project."

Exploration Update

Two rigs are currently drilling on the project and to date have drilled a total of 2170 meters. A third drill rig will be added in the New Year with the goal of completing approximately 10,000 m of drilling at Callanquitas and allowing the definition of a NI 43-101 compliant resource by the end of 3rd quarter 2012.

Sampling Methodology

Cores taken from the diamond drill rig are stored in plastic core boxes and transported to the camp for detailed logging. Afterwards, the core is cut on site with a diamond saw.

One half is then sent to an accredited laboratory in various sample lengths. Randy Henkle (P.Geol.), the Company's independent Qualified Person, completed a chain of custody review to ensure the integrity of all sample data.

Assaying Methodology

The samples are analyzed by SGS Laboratories in Lima by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy for silver and 37 other elements (included Hg and Te) and a 30 gram fire assay technique for gold. Samples above detection limits are re-assayed using a gravimetric fire assay. The specific lab procedures can be found in the Company's 43-101 report on the Igor property.

This press release was reviewed and approved by Dr. Warren Pratt (CGeol) who is a "Qualified Person" according to National Instrument 43-101.

Sienna Gold Inc. is a gold exploration company with property interests in Peru. Its key prospect is the Igor Mine Project, a formerly producing mine that the Corporation plans to explore further.
