Ndamukong Suh's Hearing Today

Dec. 1, 2011

Robert Klemko

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh's appeal of a two-game ban resulting from a Thanksgiving Day stomping incident vs. the Green Bay Packers will be heard today, according to the Associated Press.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Shell, hired jointly by the league and the NFL Players Association, will hear the appeal of the suspension, which would keep Suh out of Sunday's visit to the New Orleans Saints and Detroit's home game vs. the Minnesota Vikings and cost the 2010 NFL defensive rookie of the year more than $165,000 in forfeited game checks if it is upheld.

A hearing usually is held within 10 days of the filing of an appeal. The league has expedited Suh's case to give the Lions an answer before the Saints game.

Early last month, Suh requested and was granted a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss his play after he drew several penalties and fines. Suh said he had a better understanding of the rules after that meeting.

Reprimanded: Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson was fined $10,000 for his touchdown celebration in Sunday's loss to the New York Jets, according to the AP.

Johnson caught a 5-yard pass for a score in the first half, then danced as if holding two guns before pretending to shoot himself in the leg. Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress served 20 months in prison on gun charges after shooting himself in the leg in a Manhattan nightclub in 2008.

Johnson then mocked Santonio Holmes' flying jet celebration by crashing into the ground, costing the Bills 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff and seting up a Jets touchdown drive. New York won 28-24.

Johnson said he plans to stop performing TD celebrations.

Battered: The Philadelphia Eagles ruled out wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (shoulder), cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle) and quarterback Michael Vick, who has missed two games with broken ribs, for today's game at the Seattle Seahawks.

Backup quarterback Vince Young, who threw for a career-high 400 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the New England Patriots, is 1-1 as a starter for Philadelphia (4-7).

Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (knee) and running back LeSean McCoy (toe) are questionable for Philadelphia.

The Seahawks placed wide receiver Sidney Rice on injured reserve Wednesday because of multiple concussions suffered this season.

Delayed: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Tyler Palko will make his third start Sunday vs. the Chicago Bears. He gets the call over Kyle Orton, who was acquired on waivers last week after being released by the Denver Broncos.

Palko, starting in place of injured Matt Cassel, has six interceptions and no touchdowns in his two starts, both losses.

"Tyler is our starter," coach Todd Haley said Wednesday. "We've got to get Kyle ready to play, and he might have to play, he might not."
