Global Food Safety Forum (GFSF) announced that the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) awarded GFSF an FY2010 Emerging Marketing Program grant to assist GFSF with its initiatives to promote food safety.
With the EMP grant, GFSF's events and activities for 2010-2011 include:
• China Food Safety Workshop
• GFSF Technical Ambassador Corps – Rapid Response to Food Safety Issues
• GFSF- Government Dialogue
• Food Safety White Paper - US and China

"It's a unique challenge and opportunity for us to introduce food safety audits, training, outreach, industry rapid response teams, and a structure of cooperation and coordination with Chinese government authorities."
Food safety is now one of the most urgent areas of concern for the global food chain. GFSF, a not-for-profit industry based organization promoting food safety for all companies operating in China, is committed to finding practical solutions to minimize risk and widen compliance through private sector initiatives, operations training, and harmonizing of regional, national, and international standards.
Gilmore expressed his appreciation to all the founding members and the Chinese government for their support in spawning and growing GFSF to a premier position in China's efforts to satisfy world standards for food security.
GFSF is jointly managed by the GIC Group and its partner, Bric Global Agricultural Consultants, with offices in Washington, DC, and Beijing. Chinese officials from ministries and regulatory agencies welcomed and endorsed GFSF during a successful launch in April 2010.
