T.I., a grammy-award-winning rapper and celebrity, may face jail time stemming from his arrest Wednesday in Los Angeles for possession of marijuana.
At the time of the drug bust, he was on probation for an arrest three years ago for possession of illegal firearms.
T.I. was headed back to Atlanta Thursday for a trial date with the federal judge who granted his probation.
"T.I. is going back to Atlanta in the next 24 hours," said Don Samuel, a member of the rapper's legal team. "Without knowing all the facts, it's premature to speculate what the court is likely to do."
T.I., whose legal name is Clifford Harris, was arrested Wednesday night during a routine traffic stop when officers detected the odor of marijuana in his car.
His previous arrest for illegal firearms occured in 2007, when he attempted to buy machine guns from undercover federal officers.
