Thousands of people are headed for the California desert this weekend for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to hear some of music's most popular acts, past and present.
But one needs to look no further than the television or Youtube to find the most dynamic, exciting and cutting-edge live performer in music today, this side of Lady Gaga.
American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert returned this week to the Idol stage that made him famous a year ago, and delivered another rousing performance.
See his thrilling performance here:
Singing the Pink co-written song, "Whataya Want From Me?" Lambert performed the song for the first minute in darkness with only green lasers illuminating the stage.
When the lights came on Lambert broke into the chorus, "Just don't give up, I am working it out, just don't give in, I won't let you down."
The crowd went nuts and suddenly American Idol felt important again. Lambert returned to the show this week to mentor the Idol contestants.
For Lambert's fans, there's more on the way. Lambert is set to launch a U.S. tour this summer.
