Perez Hilton just might become the Casey Casem of the new generation.
Hilton plans to launch a radio show later this year where he would feature top songs and his personal favorites, according to media reports.
Hilton became a media phenomenon after his gossipy celebrity blog, where he posted celebrity pictures with snarky captions and lewd illustrations, caught fire. Since, Hilton has become a national personality, known for his fierce criticisms of celebrities.
Hilton, born Mario Lavanderia, has becoming increasingly influential in recent years. Most notably, he stumped beauty contestant Carrie Prejean on a live national broadcast, when he asked her to state her opinion on same-sex marriage.
Prejean said she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman only, prompting Hilton to spend the next several days blasting her on national TV.
With his comfortability on camera, witty sense of humor, and ability to fire barbs at celebrities, is Hilton the natural replacement for Simon Cowell, who leaves American Idol in May?
