California Attorney General Jerry Brown is investigating 25 to 30 doctors who allegedly sold prescription drugs without medical justification to not only the late Corey Haim, but also the late Michael Jackson, according to TMZ.
Some may have even used aliases, the celebrity news site said.
The news comes a week after gubernatorial candidate Brown released a statement saying a "major crackdown" is needed on a "massive" illegal prescription drug ring with alleged ties to Haim.
The scam allegedly also involves the stolen prescription pads of doctors.
Brown said on at least one occasion an unauthorized prescription of the painkiller OxyContin was sold Haim from a vendor in San Diego connected to the ring.
"Prescription-drug abuse is a growing problem," the statement said. "Brown's office has investigated and filed charges in more than 200 cases-against both physicians who have abused their trust and patients who go from doctor to doctor in search of drugs."
